Westward Milestone Edition No. 2
750ml Bottle
Westward Milestone Edition No. 2 is an American single malt whiskey from Westward in Portland, Oregon, United States, bottled at 48.5 alcohol by volume (ABV) and 97 proof. It represents the culmination of two decades of whiskey-making, built on Westward's exploration of winemaking and distilling techniques adapted to American whiskey. Master Blender Miles Munroe draws a milestone from a twenty-one-barrel Solera system created exclusively for this annual release, a method traditionally used by European winemakers that allows continuous aging and blending of some of Westward's oldest whiskies with rare cask types. Each year, only a small portion of whiskey is removed from the Solera system and replaced with another unique whiskey from the barrel house, allowing ongoing integration and development while preserving an evolving core of aged whiskey.
This process means every Milestone release captures a specific moment in time, shaped by the living Solera system and the particular whiskies introduced into it, resulting in a profile that cannot be exactly repeated. The process and profile emphasize complexity developed through continuous aging, fractional blending, and the long-term integration of older and rarer whiskies, resulting in an expression defined by depth, evolution, and the influence of extended maturation within the Solera structure. Westward Milestone Edition No. 2 can be enjoyed neat or sipped slowly to watch its layered structure unfold, and it pairs well with dark chocolate, aged cheeses, or decadent desserts. It is well-suited as an after-dinner pour or as a gifting option for collectors seeking limited annual releases that reflect a specific chapter in a distillery's history.
