Quinta Sardonia Sardon Red 2017

Bodega Quinta Sardonia Sardon Red Wine 2017 is a blend of 95% Tempranillo, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Garnacha, Albillo, Syrah, and Malbec. It is floral, very fresh stuff boasting a bright purple hue and showing layers of clean black plum, blackberry, and raspberry fruit. This wine was fermented with wild yeasts and aged in neutral barrel, stainless steel, and concrete eggs. This delightful red displays bright fruit with the right concentration and energy. This EU certified organic and Demeter certified biodynamic bottling hails from vineyards located just west of Ribera del Duero, in Castilla y Leon in central Spain. Right from the start, Sardon 2017 displays the refinement characteristic of this vintage, with intense, very fresh aromas, notes of red, black, and sour cherries with spiced undertones from the barrel aging. It has the right balance of red fruit, acidity, and subtle, soft tannins on the palate. Finishing the concrete tanks' wine gives it good volume, tantalizing fresh fruit flavors, and a silky mouthfeel. The tannins are just noticeable at the end, stretching the wine and giving it a bit longer finish. Quinta Sardonia Sardon is a well-balanced, delightful wine that does not need to be decanted. It has made and aged to be savored right now, with no additional bottle aging. It has bottled at 15% alcohol by volume. It pairs well with spicy Thai steak salad, meatloaf with blackberry barbecue sauce, or lamb and pistachio patties with sumac yogurt sauce.
