High Heaven Vintners Columbia Valley Roaming Elk Red Blend Wine 2017 is a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Merlot that creates a nuanced yet well-balanced wine with refined tannins and uplifting acidity. Syrah and Merlot's combination from McNary Vineyard is combined with additional Syrah from Zillah Ranch in Rattlesnake Hills AVA. Grapes are crushed, destemmed, and cold-soaked for 36 hours before aging in stainless steel for 18 months.

This Roaming Elk Red Blend has a purple color with ruby red tints. On the nose, a complex balance between breathy herbs and refined fruits. The lavender, violets, raspberry, and cranberry aromas are balanced with spice, smoke, and cedar. The palate is complex and nuanced, yet well-balanced with refined tannins and uplifting acidity. It offers blackberry, lavender, and savory flavors with a long supple finish. It has bottled at 13.8% alcohol by volume and pairs well with pepper steak, lamb, roasts, and dark chocolate.
