Dansk Mjod Viking Blod

Hibiscus gives Viking Blod, meaning blood, its characteristic reddish color, evocative of the blood Vikings spilled in their fierce battles, hence the name. They have combined the traditional mead with dried hibiscus and ginger to make Viking Blod, thus giving it a distinctive color and a spicy, aromatic, and floral taste. Dansk Mjod Viking Blod is a little like a good Madeira. However, this mead is completely harmless, with a sweet, floral taste.

Serve slightly chilled in a wine glass as an aperitif or over ice with fruits at room temperature in a Portwine glass. It is excellent as a dessert wine or for a winter warmer; heat the liquid without boiling it and serve it in a mug.
