Red Wine | Rhone Blend
Austin Hope GSM Red Wine 2014 was grown on the Hope Family Vineyard, located just 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Templeton Gap District of Paso Robles. The site's rock soils of clay and limestone make it ideal for the Rhone varieties to which it has planted. The wines have carefully managed to keep cluster counts low, resulting in fruit with high intensity and rich berry flavors. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented in five-ton, open-top tanks. After extended maceration for up to 60 days, the wine aged 25 months in 72% new French oak barrels.
Austin Hope GSM is a harmonious Rhone blend of 35% Grenache, 35%, Mourvedre, and 30% Syrah. It has a ruby-black color with a bold aroma of blackberry, blueberry, and dried red currants, dried violets, blood orange rind, herbes de Provence, and pencil shavings. The palate is full-bodied with big, robust tannins, highlighted by dark fruit flavors and savory undertones. It's vibrant and healthy, with vivacious acidity and a long seductive finish. Enjoy!
