Indian Whiskey | Single Malt Whiskey
Amrut Cask Strength Indian Single Malt Whiskey has made Indian barley grown at the foothills of the Himalayan mountains in a region known as Punjab. The Himalayan mountain water, along with the cold winters and hot summers, results in a unique type of barley rich in nutrients and flavor. After local Indian farmers harvest the barley, it has been carefully mashed and distilled in small batches to preserve the Indian terroir's natural aroma. The whiskey has then aged 3,000 feet above sea level in oak barrels that have laid to rest for a minimum of 4 years.
Amrut Single Malt Cask Strength has a golden yellow color. The nose has classic house style with glorious bourbon notes fused with the richest of barley statements; not entirely unlike caramelized biscuit dunked in coffee; oh, and a bit of spicy attitude, too. The taste is unique bitter-sweet overture where the oaks and barley appear joined at the hip; lovely soft oils and then a sharp jolt of blood orange citrus, which is removed by something more buttery and delicate. The finish is long, elegant with the most intricate fades with the oaks showing various bourbon then buttery characteristics; there is a trace of dark sugar and cocoa to help it along its way.
It has an aroma of intense caramel, malt, dark chocolate, and oak that gives way to notes of vanilla, espresso beans, smoke, and a touch of honey on the palate. The finish is long yet smooth, with hints of soft charcoal, dried apricots, and tobacco. Enjoy!
