Alexander Valley Vineyards Syrah 2017

Alexander Valley Vineyards Estate Syrah Red Wine 2017 has been blended with a bit of Viognier and some Grenache from 85-year-old vines. The wine was aged for 20 months in French oak. The Grenache added some breadth to the wine, particularly notes of wild strawberries. The Viognier brightened the color, contributing floral notes and softening the tannins.

This Alexander Valley Vineyards Syrah is a deep purple wine with rich aromas of plum, violets, black cherry, vanilla, boysenberry, and oak. The vintage is a classic with flavors of blackberry jam, black cherry, plum, white pepper, and vanilla. In a nod to its Rhone heritage, this Syrah has a slightly "meaty" quality along with the classic floral notes. It has silky tannins and a long juicy finish. It has bottled at 14% alcohol by volume and pairs wonderfully with beef, veal, game, or poultry. Enjoy!
