How Is Hendrick's Gin Distilled?
Hendrick's employs a distinctive distillation process, using both a Carter-Head Still (dating back to 1948) and a small pot still known as the Bennett, built in 1860. These two stills produce markedly different styles of Gin due to their unique construction and distillation methods.
What Makes the Bennett Still Unique?
The Bennett still, being small, allows the botanical flavors to infuse deeply into the spirit. The botanicals are steeped in neutral Spirit and Water for 24 hours before distillation. As the liquid boils, vapors rise and are collected, resulting in a strong, juniper-rich spirit.
How Does the Carter-Head Still Differ?
On the other hand, the Carter-Head still produces a more delicate spirit with floral and sweet notes. It employs a unique method where the botanicals are placed in a basket at the top of the still, allowing alcohol vapors to extract their flavors gently. This process captures lighter, sweeter, and floral flavors.
Bottled Style
Hendrick's Gin is presented in an elegant, dark brown, apothecary-style bottle, reflecting its premium and unique character.
For a unique Hendrick's Gin experience, Master Distiller Lesley Gracie recommends mixing the Gin with soda water and elderflower cordial.
