Red Wine | Red Blend
Provenance Vineyards Napa Valley P-WAVE Red Wine 2011 is a blend of 42% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 9% Petite Sirah, 3% Tempranillo, 2% Touriga, and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has barrel-aged for 16 months in 35% new oak barrels. The p-wave is the primary wave in an earthquake.
We named this wine P-WAVE because it shakes up the traditional blend of Bordeaux-heritage grape varietals," says Winemaker Chris Cooney. "We've added non-traditional varietals to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon's solid core, bringing lively, bright red-plum and raspberry to the rich, black cherry and blackberry profile.
A nice dose of new oak barrels adds spice, while the cool 2011 vintage gives complex herbal nuances. The tannin structure is firm, yet extremely supple, giving the wine unique elegance. It has bottled at 13.9% alcohol by volume and pairs well with beef, lamb, veal, or poultry. Enjoy!
